We got
cupcakes for the after-dad’s-memorial-service family dinner—some were even
gluten-free and vegan for Alison—and
when I picked them up I grabbed a bag of macaroons, which the baker comped me
because she’d gotten our order wrong, and I love them so much more than
cupcakes and ate almost all of them myself.
Good for you! I hope they go well with your blood type.
ReplyDeleteI love macaroons too. Probably my favorite sweet.
ReplyDeleteOkay. I'm going to ask. Were they coconut-y macaroons, or meringue-ish macarons?
ReplyDeleteAnd if there was ever a day you deserved to eat a whole bag of anything, it would have been the day of your dad's memorial service.
Heavy coconut-y.
DeleteOh, and I love a really good macaron, too, although I didn't realize it until I was in Paris. They don't look like they'd taste good (and I've since had some that didn't). In Paris, they were sublime.
DeleteI had to ask, because many people (perpetuated on ... shock, horror ... The Great British Bake Off) pronounce the meringuey ones as macaroon.
DeleteMali, have you seen the Macron/Macaron/Macaroon/Macaroni meme? (Some add Marconi, Mickey Rooney.)
DeleteMacarons can be wonderful, but I'm a sucker for the heavier coconut macaroons. Especially if dipped in dark chocolate. (And I agree with Mali -- you deserved the treat.)
