Sometimes I think I’m
not sleeping, but when I jar awake, I realize I must have been. Other times I
judge it this way: Was my brain watching something, taking it in, or was it controlling
what was happening? By controlling, I don’t mean lucid dreaming; I mean
churning its own stuff. Maybe a watching brain is a sleeping brain.
I'm not exactly certain what you mean, but it brought to mind the experience of reading aloud to someone, and doing a fine job of it, while my mind wandered off to think about something completely unrelated to what I was reading. I'm guessing this is common.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! Happens to both of us. Fascinating to think what our brains are doing.
ReplyDeleteI think I get it. I know that sometimes when I am trying to fall asleep I know it's going happen when I start seeing odd things (in my mind's eye). I force myself to stay calm.
