Alison and I are going back
later this month. We had originally planned on two weeks, renting Dumpsters,
throwing out what is obviously trash. But my mother isn’t having any of it. She
is a control freak (as I believe most hoarders likely are) and wants to go
through everything piece by piece. This could take decades.

ReplyDeleteWhen I replaced a broken toilet seat my mom wanted to keep the old one, so I sort of understand. She also wanted to go through everything, piece by piece and ruminated each thing. "Hmm, I wonder if I should keep this nail. It might come in handy someday."
Hmmm. Can you tell her you'll keep anything important aside for her to see before you throw it out? (And then throw 99% of the stuff aside, because 99% will not be important.)
