I thought “place” posts would be easy, but I don’t even know where I am right now. I’m not sure I’m even really in my body. I seem alienated from everything, not connecting, not here.

The Challenges

JANUARY: SERIAL

Tell a story over the course of the month—it can be fiction or non-fiction, it can be prose or poetry. It can be a series of haiku if you are so inclined. Just lead us from a beginning through a middle and give us a satisfying ending on January 31.

The word count for this challenge will be a range—from a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 100 words per entry.

FEBRUARY: OBJECTS

Posts about objects in 61 words.

MARCH: SECRETS AND LIES

Tell a secret, yours or someone else’s. Tell lies. Who’ll know the difference? In 56 words.

APRIL: PEOPLE

Based on our original 365 challenge, create a word portrait of a person. One’s current age dictates the number of words.

MAY: FOOD

Thoughts about food in 55 words: food we eat and don’t, food we like and don’t, the place of food in our lives, food with good memories and bad. And maybe we’ll throw in a few drinks, too.

JUNE: WHINING/NEGATIVITY

In a maximum of 100 words.

JULY: BOOKS

In a maximum of 200 words.

AUGUST: POETRY AND FORM

In a maximum of 100 words.

SEPTEMBER: SONGS AND/OR DREAMS

In 60 words.

OCTOBER: SCARY STUFF

In 666 characters.

NOVEMBER: PLACES

In a maximum of 100 words.

DECEMBER: HAPPY FREE-FOR-ALL

No rules.
