250/365/Song

A Carolina wren has been singing his heart out, teakettle teakettle teakettle tea, a song so perfectly sweet, but the weather change is bitter, turning his call bittersweet, this little wren who will be leaving so soon, and it rips my heart out a little when I hear him, and it will rip my heart out more when I don’t.

  1. Now I'm googling to find his song. Lovely!

  2. Birdsong of summer is astonishingly beautiful. But I am fond of the cackling chatter of the winter birds, full of gossip and truth. I actually get excited to find the ground littered with juncos, knowing that snow is coming.

    1. I ascribe the quality of sweetness to juncos. For all I know, they laugh at this, but I continue to see them as gentle and considerate.

  3. I'm not sure if this is the same as the wren we hear around here. I just call it a wren, but it sounds so lovely.
