I think about parents of children with autism who get shunned and judged in the supermarket. If only people knew. I think this is similar. It is complex and tied up in mental illness and fear and people need to reach out before they judge.
They really don't. So ignore them. I've had nurses in hospital look at me that way, imply we were negligent, heartless. But they had only seen my mother, confused and disoriented in hospital. Not comfortable at home looking after herself "on automatic."
If only it was easy to ignore what stupid people think.

ReplyDeleteThere will always be people who have their own opinions, especially if they don't know the whole story and the whole story is none of their business.
